Burgertuning JB4

So to let you guys know, BMS made a piggyback system for our jettas. They are supposed to be released at the end of this month for the production models. I was lucky enough to buy a tester as long as I took some pictures of the install and sent back some data logs as well. I have the JB4 unit, the bluetooth module, and the app. The bluetooth module allows you to connect via your cell phone or tablet and data log, change tunes on the fly, and display a bunch of different information from boost, oil temp, throttle position, AFR's, ignition timing etc. It adds 30hp and 45tq. It's a very noticeable difference in power. It's a much smoother delivery and pulls very hard on the low to mid range. After 5k rpm it tapers off quickly do to the turbo being so small. Stock 0-60 using a buddy and his phone app ( with gps tracking ) was 8.4 sec with my 8spd auto in sport mode. After turning on the Jb4 map 1 ( for 91 and 93 octane ) it dropped down to 6.9, thats back to back testing using the same app ( which is probably not that accurate but showed improvement none the less. Car is also stock minus new wheels and the air box mod. Ill upload pics as soon as I can.

Appreciate the insight Rob. Those are some impressive gains on a tune alone. Great to see products like these as VW has become heavily restrained by the newer WLTP.

I hope you're planning to upgrade tires. Rarely do I see someone getting the most from these tunes without addressing wheels/tires.

Yes I already upgraded to some 18s. Picked up a set of the bathurst oem wheels off of a 2013 gli. Running a 225 and still traction was hurting in the first 2 gears. Going to upgrade to some 235s when these wear out.

So an update for you guys. George sent me some numbers to punch in for map6 which is the map we can play with. It is significantly better in every way. Torque down low doesn't overwhelm the tires anymore, midrange still hits hard, and the top end is much much stronger. No more peetering out after 5k anymore, it pulls all the way to 6. Stock boost levels at 6k were around 8psi, map1 was around 11psi at 6k, and now with map6 its right at 14psi at 6k. The passing power is fantastic now with a much smoother and more linear power band. George looked at my logs and said that everything looked great and to keep running it as is for a while longer just to make sure no issues arise. The difference between stock and map6 is ridiculous.

Also forgot to mention, I went to the dragstrip to get some test runs in. I was looking to see what improvements were made between the stock map and the jb4 maps. My times were terrible due to wheel spin. My 60ft times were borderline criminal. I just couldn't get it to hook up at all. The track was prepped, I was running 225 18 street tires, road hugger ultra gts ( factory on the mk6 gli if I remember correctly ) and I didn't even load up the converter... just feathered the throttle on launch. Spun all of first and most of second. I have no doubt that with the jb4, low 15s being possible if I can get my 60ft times close to 2 sec.
Stock
2.58 60ft
10.5 1/8th at 68mph
16.2 1/4 at 86mph

Map 1 ( 91 and 93 0ct )
2.7 60ft
10.7 1/8th at 68.6mph
16.3 1/4 at 86.6mph

Map 6 ( custom 93 oct settings )
2.77 60ft
10.68 1/8th at 68.8mph
16.2 1/4 at 87mph

Did you do a burnout before running the strip (to warm tires)? I see the professionals do it but not as many amateurs.
