2019 headrest removal

I want to put seat covers on my 2019 Jetta S and can’t get The headrests off. Brought to dealer and they couldn’t either. We followed the manual on page 122. Anyone get them off?

Headrests have always been a pita to remove on the Jetta. I'm guessing that there is some kind of flange/clip that holds the posts into the seats. For reference this is how hidden there were in the mk7 Golf.

Still looking for a way to remove the front seat headrests from my 2019 Jetta to install seat covers to protect the new light grey cloth seats. Took to dealer and two technicians tried following the car manual directions and couldn’t get them out.

That's odd, the description give above does correlate to information in a few videos i've seen on youtube of people who successfully removed them.

This was one of those videos:

Typical German engineering to make something simple, so overly complex. If the technicians don't even know how to do it surely, someone should be contacting HO for clarification.

Dealership tech's are just about the least hands on you'll find.

They've been trained to replace parts rather than fix them so you can't expect anything more.

Independent shops you trust that specialize in you brand are often the best to help

Hi, my 2019 jetta owners manual says there is a hidden button halfway down the backside of each seat, press in hard and pull off head rest. I havent had to try this but I hope it works for you.
