2019 Jetta Overview- TFL

TFL just uploaded a new video which gives a great overview of the new Jetta. Really not quite sure what it is with automakers leaving empty buttons all over the center console. I can understand this on a base model, but they've obviously done it as a cost saving measure across all trim levels.

Imo there is evidence of cost cutting everywhere on this model. No exhaust tips at all, unless you move up to the top SE trim? Seems like the majority of their budget went into the new digital cluster and infotainment system, which was is at least a big improvement over the outgoing model.

This slight reduction in price has more to do with its marketing capability than anything else. Sometimes the issue with marketing is pulling people in, saying you're cheaper than the next guy helps.

I don't really think $100 is anything to marvel over, but we don't often see new models get cheaper over outgoing ones. Empty switches are pretty common across all brands, even premium/luxury ones. If anything is going to sell the new Jetta, its the fuel economy.

I agree. VW seems to be gearing their new vehicles around efficiency, but I feel like the main reason for that is all the issues they are still having with the new WLTP standards.

Can't blame them because after the 90's Toyota and Honda kept their cars simple and just catered to simple needs, meanwhile it was those years that built Toyota's capital.

Even the brand new Arteon hasn't been exempt from struggling to meet new WLTP standards. VW has already indicated that its U.S launch will now be delayed by several months as a result of these problems.
