VW Jetta takes J.D. Power compact award

Volkswagen has announced that the 2018 Jetta has been awarded the most appealing Compact Car in the latest J.D. Power APEAL Study. This marks the 5th time that Jetta has ranked first in this highly competitive category, which is now comprised of 18 vehicles for this year. The Golf and Tiguan ranked second in their categories and the Atlas was ranked fourth amongst midsize SUV's.

Do you mean the 2018, or the new 2019 since it came out in 2018?

From the pictures I've seen included in news articles about this, it looks like the last gen model but that may just be an oversight. Many seem to refer to a "restyled" Jetta.

Based on this article its for the brand new 2019 model. It would seem that their cost cutting and refresh is already starting to pay off.

I think there is a lot of value to be found on the base trim, so long as you know what that entails. Lots of scratchy plastic, and a focus on tech. Its pretty obvious that VW has marketed the new Jetta towards a younger demographic.

Good to see the Jetta is seeing success because VW needs all they can get right now while also launching new models and aiming to improve the brands image.
They even said that North American sales aren't what they should be.
